The Tournament is (funnily enough) an unimaginatively named tournament. The entire plot of the SHAME arc in Compile Worlds revolved around it's conduct, although the ground work for it was set up in the Amalgamation and the Meteor arc.

History

See: SHAME for a more detailed account of the events that transpired.

Rules

The Rules of the tournament were rather vague and open ended. For the tournament, five teams were allowed to be formed, and each of them had five team members, who were manipulated to be distributed based on the LOPAC roles; anyone who was not on one of the five teams was given the 6th "Spectator" role, and though Spectators could potentially involve themselves at the risk of danger, they could not participate in the Tournament and had no effect on it's standings. Sig and Amitie were the only (surprise) exceptions to this rule, as they had become ones through various means and eventually earned the ability to participate.

There was no tournament hierarchy that distributed match ups for the teams; instead, the teams were allowed to decide their own match ups after forming and becoming aware of their involvement in the tournament. The winning team proceeded, while the losing team was disqualified and its members had to either resign or redistribute themselves to another team. Usually, the winning team absorbed the losing teams members, thus becoming larger and having a bigger advantage in battles. There was also no set battle ground for any of the matches, apart from the all out match between Team Satan and Team Marin, where a large coliseum had been prepared especially for the event. This was also the only match that had a battle rule since the teams were so large.

There was no prize for winning, and no Team effectively "won" the tournament by any given standards. The tournament's true purpose, rather, was to expose the metalevels and their influence and purpose in the daily lives of the cast, although some of the hosts of the tournament had other, more sinister agendas on their mind. This resulted in the appearance of Benedict, who ended the tournament and restored the lives of everyone who died, save for Angol, who was instead saved by Eldora earlier, Eta, who was permanently absorbed by Sig, and Eltia and Chitose, who were absorbed/disappeared and then mysteriously reappeard later in C♥W Segment 1.
