If you were looking for Ekoro's human form in the RP, see Unusual Ekoro.

Ekoro (also known as Ecolo or Ecoro) is the main antagonist of Puyo Puyo 7, as well as Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary, and appears as a primary antagonist in Compile Worlds. He has been causing trouble with his efforts to completely disintegrate Primp since Episode 8, and still is alive. He and his efforts are infamous throughout not only Primp, but apparently The Abyss and other worlds as well. Though in the games he is a single identity, in Compile Worlds, he is the fusion of two different characters, the result of which is this third character.

Biography

Ekoro's true origins and birthplace are widely unknown. Mysteriously, he appeared out of nowhere. Strange Klug has mentioned Ekoro travels to many other worlds to cause trouble, and has even been implied to visit Primp before the Ekoro Arc. In Episode 32 it is implied that Ekoro himself is a human mage being possessed by the entity Strange Klug may have witnessed. If isn't causing mischief, then he seems to adopt or create minions to do his dirty work in other worlds, such as using Sho's DNA to make Alpha. Between episodes 11 and 12, Ekoro had used Alpha to create several clones of various ADMA members, as well as his rather extravagant main base and secret project Perfect Light.

For an antagonist, Ekoro usually speaks in a polite, yet condescending manner. He often makes up bizarre rhymes, riddles and metaphors to convey his thoughts, bringing confusion and frustration to his arch-nemesis-es. Ekoro also has a habit of cackling "EYAH HEE HEE HEE!" when he is excited or amused, which is often. Much like a mad scientist, Ekoro is constantly conducting tests and experiments, and then destroys these tests with child-like glee. Often, he is scrupulous when destroying or hiding evidence, making tracing all the elements of his plots difficult. Ekoro also likes to have the element of surprise, as evidenced when he hyped up Zeta. When Ekoro is angry however, he shows he can be rather blunt, unlike when he is calm. He is also a master of deception, tricking Feli into thinking Lemres was with her and faking his own death. However, he is unstable, and his plans frequently change to meet situations or his own whims.

Ekoro, being a main antagonist, is also fittingly one of the most powerful characters in the entire RP. In addition to being able to alter his form or voice to mimic another, he can copy entire fighting techniques. Before his imprisonment inside an orb, he was also able to summon portals to various other worlds at whim. Ekoro is also capable of brainwashing people into thinking things that aren't reality, no matter how ridiculous they seem. However, Ekoro's power also has limits. For example, he cannot escape from his imprisonment within his orb. He also apparently cannot handle multiple attacks hitting him simultaneously, probably due to his generally unstable nature. Ekoro's tendency to ramble may also contribute as a weakness, since his rambling almost distracts him. The greatest showcase of Ekoro's immense power is his survival inside a black hole, inside an orb, after supposedly being killed by his clones, which still has yet to be explained.

Etymology

Like a lot of SEGA's Puyo characters, the exact meaning or origin of Ekoro's name is uncertain. "Kokoro", "corocoro", "Ecology" and "e. coli" are all possible origins, with various degrees of relevance to his character. The spelling of his name is also a controversial subject, since SEGA has never released any media implying what the correct English romanization of his name is. Kokoro means "heart" in Japanese, referring to how Ekoro supposedly "toyed with Arle's Heart" in Puyo Puyo 7. Corocoro roughly translates to "something round and bouncy", which fits Ekoro's physical description quite well. E. coli is a parasite, again referring to how he steals other character's bodies or animations. It's unknown how Ecology would relate to Ekoro however.

Quotes

Trivia

  • Ekoro was the only character whose text color was black. It was brown, because Kawachat does not have a more appropriate color for him to use. Since becoming human again, it is now cyan.
  • Ekoro's "Perfect recreation of life" is of Arle, a refernece to Dark Arle in Puyo Puyo 7.
  • Despite fantranslations and SEGA's own "ecolo.jpg" saying other wise, Ekoro's name has not changed to "Ecolo", even in the most recent episodes.
    • However, in human form, Ekoro insists they should call him "Ecolo".
  • Ekoro apparently has a masturbatoreum somewhere in his base, but nobody has yet to (accidentally) find it.
    • This could also be untrue, given Ekoro only brought it up as the result of his own vague innuendo.
  • When Ekoro had materialized in the Post-Meteor Arc, he was revealed to have switched to his 20th design. He is the only Puyo Puyo 7 character to have indicated doing so.
