Strange Klug is the result of a book demon taking control of Klug's body. Angsty and bitchy like most teenagers, Strange Klug is often found talking to himself. In fact, many believe he never actually stops talking - he just changes the subject when people enter the room. He only appears in Puyo Puyo Fever 2, and despite the fact that only Amitie seems to care about the possession, is fought in the end by all three protagonists.
The demon behind Strange Klug was sealed inside the book long ago, and the non-evil parts later became Sig. Klug somehow released it for unknown reasons, but it's likely he either tricked into doing it or he did it unknowingly. Or he wanted to take over the world. Or like in a fanfiction by crazy French bastards, he abused its powers to excel at Puyo, following his father's dreams.
Some people say Strange Klug is the Fever equivalent of Doppelganger Arle, but besides having similar red clothes and being evil, the two are completely different. Strange Klug, like Doppel though, has one of the most badass songs in any Puyo Puyo game, making Rising Comet sound like Taisen 1, but that's as far as the two's similarities go.
Oh, and he appears as an alternate character in Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary, now stealing Klug's character properties in addition to his body.
Appearance in Subete PuyoPuyo
Strange Klug is the last of the Fever/7 series antagonists to appear in Subete PuyoPuyo. He acts mysterious and calculating. Strange Klug also often finds himself rambling in sentences that take up more than one line in the chat logs! In recent episodes, he has been shown to act rather critical and condescending, especially towards Draco Centauros. Apparently he had known Ekoro from prior visits to Primp, though he still has not decided to elaborate on this.
He first appeared in Episode 18, where he is seen staring at the rubble of the ADMA HQ. When confronted by Draco, Arle, and Ringo, he explained he was just there to say "hello" to Ekoro, somehow knowing he had been trapped within the most dangerous object on the planet 2/2Mountain Baseblack hole. When asked how he had come to even know this in the first place, he responded by saying he simply researched the ADMA and Ekoro after learning of the incident at the Mountain Base (which apparently made the ADMA more know to people like ???). Though Strange Klug claimed he merely wanted to hold the sphere for a moment to laugh at his former rival, Draco suspected something even more suspicious was up. Strange Klug decided it wasn't worth fighting Draco over at the time and left, but not before claiming that he wouldn't underestimate his opponents when he did fight, possibly implying his role as a secondary antagonist (second to ???) in the Meteor Arc.
Episode 19 featured Strange Klug's return to the stage of Subete, though this time it was to inform Theta and Lagnus the Brave that he broke in to the ADMA vault and thanks to Nanako being lazy enough not to wear gloves. After rambling about Ekoro in an egotistical manner for a short time, he took a great interest in Theta, claiming she had "lovely specifications" and unimaginable power. He then vanished mysteriously again, though not before stating he would make a third appearance eventually.
Indeed, true to his word yet again, he appeared in Episode 20, confronting the nonexistent ADMA in it's final hours. Once again indulging his kleptomania, he is revealed to have both Ekoro's Orb and Eta, whom he wanted to observe for likeness to himself. He was willing to give one back in exchange for ownership of the other, but Ringo haggled for both items. Strange Klug, stating he was kind enough to do so, offered to give them both to Ringo, but for a price. He calmly revealed to them Ekoro's secret project, the remains of which are of Strange Klug's desire. He left the deal open ended as he vanished again, still with both the clone and the orb in tow.
The evil demon made another brief appearance in episode 22, where he received the final recorded words of Project Perfect Light in exchange for Ekoro's orb, claiming Eta was useless to him after all and that he was going to release him regardless of weather Ringo held up the bargain. He referenced vaguely to events concerning Zeta, Eta, and Beta before vanishing in his now traditional red smoke.
In episode 23, Strange Klug made yet another brief appearance. This time, it was to mercilessly taunt Draco for having beauty contests with Harpy and Witch instead of aiding Ringo in the destruction of Marcus. He also expressed confidence in Ekoro's revenge, if not his return altogether. The point of this seemed to be to inspire Draco to get over herself and return to fighting the baddies, though it failed because Witch and Draco jointly dismissed it as nonsense, with Schezo going so far as to suggest making Strange Klug their primary target instead of Marcus.
Amusingly, before his identity was revealed, he was known as ????, causing Keiji much lolz and unwittingly hyping up even more future events in the Meteor Arc.
