Unda (EntityTopic, 15)

From Compile Worlds

Unda is a character in Compile Worlds. She is one of the Puyo Spirits, representing Water and the color Blue. She was sealed away by Camus in the Mermaid's Lake, but was saved in Episode 50 by Seriri and Juichi, whom she has made much less crippling with her powers.

Character Concept

Chao had decided before the end of SHAME that the next arc of Compile Worlds that was his would have a prominent focus on the Puyo Spirits. Each of these spirits represents a color and element as dictated by Puyo Wars. Unda, the one to represent water, was designed fourth, though she was the hardest to design. Up until the point that Keiji decided all the spirits would be female, Chao tossed around the idea of designing her as a male merman with a husky build. The idea was promptly nixed, and in his haste Chao made her a Seriri rip off, more or less.

Biography

Like the other Puyo Spirits, Unda was born long before the events of Compile Worlds were set in motion, being created to protect them after the incident with the Youggs. While each was assigned a planet to protect, it is unknown at the time of writing what planet Unda protects individually. During the Meteor Arc though, Unda was chased to the Madou World and imprisoned by Camus at the bottom of Mermaid's Lake. However, in The Gathering, she was unsealed and allowed to rejoin her other fellow spirits and right Fake Arle's wrongs.

Unda is an extremely shy and bewildered character, constantly stammering with "um"s and "uh"s and forgetting certain words or details. She also pauses and draws out her sentences a little and is quite meek and timid compared to some of her louder sisters. Unda has also been shown to be insecure and doubtful at times, needing to ask Eldora of all people if she was sure of what she was doing.

Unda, being the Puyo Spirit of Water, has the ability to manipulate water in pretty awesome ways. In Episode 50, she and Seriri were able to float in large bubbles of water created by her in order to travel on land. Presumably, she can also manipulate the water to defend herself if necessary, though this extent of her abilities has yet to be seen.

Etymology

Unda's name comes from the Latin word "unda", which means "wave".
