In [[Compile Worlds 2]], Ecolo made a surprising return to his villainous mantle by destroying the [[Planetary Heart]] of [[Primp]] and infecting [[Lagnus the Brave]] with the [[Ekokoro Virus]]. Ecolo, also known as Unusual Ekoro, Strange Ekoro, Weird Ekoro, and Human Ekoro, is a strange, Human-like form of Ekoro. He appears in Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary as a "guest" character to win as a raffle prize from Shopoi. The form doesn't appear in Story mode. Although his behavior and motions have become erratic and odd, other than his appearance, it's not exactly certain what's so "unusual" about him. In his counter animation, the original, blob-Ekoro can be seen as an ghostly apparition behind him, further making the "human" aspect of the form uncertain.

This form had its first appearance in Compile Worlds during Episode 32, where Ekoro was shown to have briefly to have assumed this form after Theta tried to expel a parasite from him. However, he quickly resumed his normal, blobby form shortly afterwords. Later, in Episode 39, Sig exorcised the blobby possessor, causing Ekoro to permanently revert to this form. As a human, he is referred to as Ecolo. Later it was revealed that Ekoro's Possessor was a benevolent deity that was corrupted when it possessed Ecolo. He has no recollection of his past as the fused being Ekoro, but many of his antics show that he was obviously the dominant persona of the two.

In Compile Worlds 2, Ecolo made a surprising return to his villainous mantle by destroying the Planetary Heart of Primp and infecting Lagnus the Brave with the Ekokoro Virus. Here it is made clear that he is still a corrupt and conniving individual, both insane and linguistic. However, his fruity rhymes are less and his plans more calculated and proofread. Many characters suspicion that, in addition to destroying Primp, that Ecolo may also be responsible for the kidnapping of Eldora, who has been MIA since before the arc began, though how this could be possible is something argued by the more intelligent characters.
