Dark Arle is a "character" that appeared in Puyo Puyo 7. She was the result of the twisted Ecolo (psych!) possessing Arle Nadja, creating a bizarre combination of evil and lulz. She somehow ended up being weaker than Arle despite being identical to her in every other way gameplay wise, and her laugh is as creepy as hell.
In Puyo Puyo 7
In Puyo Puyo 7 Dark Arle was born basically so Ecolo could play sick mind games with Ringo and bury her world in Puyo for her own good just 'cause he can. She tricked Ringo into defeating seven other Madou characters 6/6Draco CentaurosSchezo WegeySatanRulueSuketoudaraCarbuncle, including herself, to rip a hole in time and space for the rainbow colored jellies to fall through. Then, she further threatened to bury the Madou World in Puyo as well, until Satan smacked some sense into her.
In Compile Worlds
While the character Dark Arle doesn't make an appearance herself, one of Ekoro's clones, Zeta, was informally known as "Dark Arle" until her code name was revealed by Omega. Fake Arle also wore a variation of Dark Arle's robes during her evil villainess phase and worked closely with Ecolo, though it was she who tooled Ecolo and not vice versa.
Etymology
Her name is the same as the normal Arle's appended with "Dark", suggesting the evil nature of the alter ego.
Trivia
- Dark Arle was created in order to make a large reference to the events of Puyo Puyo~n, where a different evil Arle was the antagonist.
- Her theme music even has some subtle hints to this.
- However, Dark Arle is not the main antagonist, and it is Satan fighting the possessed Arle, rather than Arle fighting the possessed Satan. Strange, isn't it?
- Originally, the Ekoro Clone Zeta was supposed to reference Dark Arle, but ultimately this subplot was dropped due to large amounts of circumstance, and Fake Arle took the mantle instead.
