J is a new character in the upcoming Puyo Puyo Tetris, representing the Tetris world since Tetris itself has no proprietary characters of its own. S/he is one in a set of inseparable twins, with the other twin being L, similar to Yu and Rei in Puyo Puyo Fever 2, or Arle and Carbuncle in more recent games.

Etymology

J comes from the "J" shaped block in Tetris, with L being named after its mirror image to correlate with their twinship.

Trivia

• In addition to sharing similarities to Yu and Rei, J also shares similarities with S design-wise.
• Prior to J's name being revealed, it was though s/he would be named Z, since his/her outfit was red, rather than orange.
