Red (trainer) (EntityTopic, 10)

From Compile Worlds

Red has been moved. A page on the color does exist.

Red is one of the most badass Pokémon Trainers in the entire Pokémon series. He first appeared in Pokémon 1 and has made his mark on all of us ever since. He was even awesome enough to be featured in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. How cool is that? Anyways, Red is Green's rival and his female version (and good friend) is Leaf. In addition to being awesome in all the Pokémon games, Red also plays heavy roles in Super Smash Bros.: Secrets of the Heart and Pikachu and Squirtle.

Appearances

Pokémon 1

In Pokémon 1, Red is the leading man (with Leaf being the leading girl), who sets out on his very own quest to become a Pokémon Trainer. As such, he must run about the Kanto region defeating the eight Gym leaders and collecting badges from them, so that he may participate in the Pokémon League and defeat the Elite Four and become the Champion. However, his rival Green is always one step ahead of him, and is constantly picking on him throughout the embarkment. Thankfully, there were friendly people like Bill to help him along the way. He also ultimately screwed up Team Rocket's plans to take over the World, leaving Giovanni no choice but to cut his loses and take over 9000 dollars from TR and bail outta there. Despite being evil, Red had a little fun gambling in their casino anyway.

At the end of the road, though lies an ultimate shocker: Green was the champion!!! And apparently, he had been waiting a long ass time for him, too. So Red, Leaf and Green fought an epic battle that Green failed at. Red then became the champion. However, he cast it aside as if it were a worthless medal and went on as if nothing ever happened, continuing to have a normal life. Implied is that he kept frequent close contact with Leaf, Bill, and even Green for some reason.

Pokémon 2

And here, what Red did after he rejected champion-hood became clear. After realizing being normal was making his Pokémon fat and lazy, he decided to kick his training up by going to Mt. Silver and beating the snot out of ridiculously high-leveled Misdreavus. Later, Gold/Krys/Lyra come upon him in the cave, training his ass off. Then The four face off in a battle more epic than Red's own champion battle.

Through pure, sheer, dumb-ass luck, Gold somehow won. Red passes out for some reason and disappears. After that, it is presumed he wakes up alive and well and decides he needs to back off for a little while. As all experts sorta know, whenever you'd beat the Elite Four, you'll find him there again. Probably looking for a less boring way to level grind?

Pokémon Stadium 2

In this spin off, Red appeared at the end of the Kanto Gym leader castle. However, unlike Green, he didn't get his own tower, just a small cave (called Mt Silver, for reasons beyond stupidity). Here, Red battles you with a fairly tame team as opposed to his uber strong one from G/S/C.

Heart Gold and Soul Silver

Nothing has changed in the remakes except that thanks to some skewed leveling up techniques, Red has once again become the most powerful Pokémon trainer on the whole damn planet, even surpassing Pearl's stupid Pokémon Platinum team. his Pikachu was raised from level 82 to 87. Unfortunately, his uber Espeon was replaced by a pathetic Lapras.

Brawl

Red appears as a Playable character in Brawl. However, Brawl failed epically by calling him "Pokémon Trainer".

Pikachu and Squirtle

Spoiler warning: the information below may contain detailed descriptions of major plot events. Feel free to skip past this section if you wish.

Red plays a very heavy role in Pikachu and Squirtle's main story. Before Pikachu stumbled onto Poké Island, he was under ownership of Red, who cared for him greatly. After being seriously injured in a battle, Pikachu is taken to a Pokémon Center for treatment. However, Pikachu and the Chansey nurse both run away, leaving Red almost traumatized.

Later, Red is kidnapped by one of Lord Meowth's lackeys, Gengar and is locked away inside the Lighthouse, where Gengar plans on Dream Eating him to death. However, Pikachu defeats Gengar. After a quick verbal exchange, Red realizes who Pikachu is, and a happy moment ensues. Red then joins the team against Lord Meowth. He is lusted after by Jynx.

As a party member, Red specializes in combat attacks, and cannot perform many Tag-Team Moves with his friends. However, shortly after joining, Red gains the ability to use Fire in his attacks, and he starts with the ability to boost items effectiveness by 20%.

Interestingly, Red is not in the Human story of the game. Instead, his anime counterpart, Ash Ketchum hogs the spotlight. However, Red is able to utilize both size/age Transformations, whereas Ash can only utilize the Chibi form.

Spoilers end here.

Other Appearances

As mentioned above, Red appears in the Smash Series' Secrets of the Heart, where he is teamed up with Princess Peach and is trying to find out what the Heart of Innocence is.

He also appears in random Pokémon comics drawn and written by Chao and his Mom. Here, Red is a frequently appearing trainer. Usually, he is stalked by the reoccurring Jynx, and always finds that his company knows something he doesn't.
