Marine the Raccoon (EntityTopic, 7)

From Compile Worlds

(Redirected from Marine)

Marine the Raccoon is SEGA's latest attempt at ridding Sonic games of Cream the Rabbit. She has a purposely similar design, and is sadly most likely Cream's Another World counterpart, despite the fact that they aren't alike in any way other than being cute, young and female. She lives on Southern Island, not to be confused with the South Island that the old Megadrive Sonic 1 took place on. She frequently hangs out on Seagull Beach, and seems to always be building boats to try and get off her home island. She is part of the Coconut Crew youth committee, but they seem to all have moved away to other islands. She speaks with a stereotypical Australian accent.

Personality

According to Sonic Channel, Marine is a neat freak. Marine's main expressed traits in Sonic Rush Adventure, however, are her lust for adventure, her somewhat bossy attitude, and her ignorance. Despite the fact that Sonic and Blaze were only intending to keep her out of trouble, she never seemed to listen. Marine also tended to get very excited when adventuring off the island, and would cause many humorous situations. She has a fear of ghosts, and is the first character since Blaze to have a phobia/irrational fear. Marine also seems to have a knack for getting the at the bad guys and a good moment, as evidenced by both final battles, where in one she stole the Jeweled Scepter from Captain Whisker, and another where she stopped Eggman Nega from obliterating the entire planet.

Trivia

  • Marine is the third character in the series to have a phobia, the other two being Blaze and Sonic, whom have acrophobia and hydrophobia respectively, and all three fears are exposed in Sonic Rush Adventure.
  • If some one were to help program it, Chao would make a Sonic Kart-racing game featuring Marine as a playable character.
  • Marine might've appeared in a sequel to Sonic RPG 2 as a party member to replace the lack of Tails being able to cast Ice or Water spells.
  • Nerveter, a Cloaked Figure Squad member, has a design based off of Marine's.
  • Marine's use of the word "bugger" caused the rating of the game to go up in European countries, especially in the UK.
