Sonic Riders
Shadow the Hedgehog is a black anthropomorphic emofag hedgehog from the Sonic the Hedgehog series. He was the Ultimate Lifeform, created by Professor Gerald Robotnik and the Black Arms, and a good friend of Maria Robotnik. Eventually though, he suffered a similar fate to Vegeta and became this half-assed lazy bastard. He wields Chaos Control and black magic, as well as being the total darkness, to complement Sonic the Hedgehog being the twilightian and Cream the Rabbit and Chip being complete light.
Personality
In Sonic Adventure 2, Shadow was the badass villain. Now he's been reduced to this. Lately, Shadow has been trying to improve his social behavior, in order to impress Rouge the Bat. Still though, he is sarcastic, sometimes cruel, can be an ass, and has a motto of "all things end in violence". He often makes fun of Dr. Eggman and his failed attempts to take over the world or destroy Sonic. He also likes to taunt the heroes, and usually ends up being neutral in affairs. For a time he respected Kuri-san, but when Kuri and Cream broke up, Shadow ended up disliking him. Shadow is frequently embarrassed by Rouge and Eggman though, because he takes himself, as well as others, too seriously. He also apparently loves Seals, and in a Chao Race, even rooted for them over Rouge's favorite Chao, Diamønd.
Relationships with other characters
Shadow usually is intolerant of being near others, and often acts anti-social, but he does have a fair share of interesting relationships:
Rouge
Shadow is in love with Rouge, and Rouge often returns the favor. However, Rouge is also a nymphomaniac, and flirts quite often with several other characters, including Eggman and Knuckles the Echidna, so Shadow feels that their relationship is insecure and must be protected.
Knuckles
Shadow is threatened by Knuckles' like of Rouge. However, Knuckles has recently been leaning towards Tikal, so Shadow feels less threatened.
Dr. Eggman
Shadow hates Eggman, but he hates being under his employment even more. Despite the fact that they sometimes do hate each other, Shadow, Rouge, Eggman, and their army of retarded robots have formed as dysfunctional family, and always do everything together.

Shadow, being so widely popular and unpopular, has had much devoted to him. He has had several action figures, plushies and keychains fashioned after him, as well as his own comic series, so it's to no surprise he's up to some other stuff here, too.
In Nanny Laura
In Nanny Laura, a musical created collaboratively by Rouge, Cream and Vector the Crocodile, Shadow plays as the Bar-tender, whom seems to be very similar in personality to the black hedgehog... unless of course that's just Shadow being a bastard and not trying.
