Egg Carrier (InstanceTopic, 9)

From Compile Worlds

The Egg Carrier, also known as "My Floating Masterpiece", is a giant doomship beach-resort created by Dr. Eggman in Sonic Adventure. It served many purposes, and had a special crew. It's main purpose though, was that it served as Eggy's base for most of the game/story, seeing as how most of the time, he's either flying in it or escaping through it. It lands exclusively at the Mystic Ruins. More specifically, it lands at Final Egg, which is Eggman's actual base. All six of the main characters board the ship at some point in the story, and each of them must deal with Eggman, and either his Hot Shelter or Sky Deck. It can also be veiwed as a prototype model for the large Whale Ships in Eggman's Egg Fleet.

Main Features

Exterior

The Egg Carrier is an extravagant ship. It can change shape at will, much like the Tornado 2. Eggman uses the shape changing feature in order to force Sonic and Tails through the Sky Deck and stall them for time. The ship seems to be quite buoyant, as it never sank despite crashing into the sea. The Egg Carrier's exterior seems to be made up of a bridge, a deck, a landing dock(likely intended for smaller Egg Fleet aircraft, like the ones that attack Sonic and Tails in Sky Chase), a strange, circular glass area, the Sky Deck, and a number of large monuments.

Bridge

This is the area of the ship that has all entrances to the internal parts of the ship. Sonic, Tails and Gamma fight here. This area cannot be accessed in the ship's alternate form. There is a large tower with a rotating platform at the top. On this platform, there is an Emblem

Deck/Landing dock

This area also encompasses the glass platform. Nothing really special about this part of the ship. There are elevators, cannons, and springs that take the heroes to the glass platform. When the ship has landed in the ocean, there are also docks to either side of this area that can take travelers to Station Square and the Mystic Ruins.

Glass Platform

The Glass Platform is one of the Egg Carriers landmarks, so to speak. It is a large, cylindrical platform made out of glass. The glass is tinted an emerald green, and large machinery can be seen running inside. The platform's purpose on the ship is still unclear. There are 6 cannons and 6 boxes on the ship. Supposedly, there is an Emblem in one of this boxes, but Chao will never know, since his file glitched and didn't record an Emblem he got on the Egg Carrier when he should have.

Sky Deck

Interior

The Interior is also quite a peace of work in itself. It is complex, and split into multiple parts. Also, Eggman stashes away the World's Best Pink Lemonade somewhere within the ship. To this day, only Eggman and his lackeys know where the dispenser is.

Pool

The Egg Carrier's built in pool compliments it's rather tropical beach resort style. There are lounge chairs for those who wish to just tan, and there is a pool. The exact depth is not known, but rumor has it that it is longer or wider than 30 meters. During the time Eggman had only 4 Chaos Emeralds, Chaos swam in the pool, much to Shadow's dismay. Also for god knows what reason there is a secret Sky Deck entrance in the pool. On one of the large pillars in the room, there is an Emblem. The others have containers with Rings.

Main Interior

The Main interior area is a large area. There is a mezzanine, and there are also Egg maids who mindless sweep and mop the floor constantly. The Entrances to the Hot Shelter, Hedgehog Hammer room, Dungeon, Secret Room, and Egg Carrier Chao Garden are all here. There is also a turnstile, which leads E-102 Gamma into the wrong room.

Dungeon

The Dungeon is where Eggman holds that bitch Amy Rose and her Birdie hostage. There are also a Black Chao Egg and Mission Card in the cells. Why that loony doctor is holding the intimate objects hostage is beyond me. Maybe he just wants that ultra rare Chao all to himself.

Hedgehog Hammer Room

The Hedgehog Hammer room is where you can play an awesome game of Hedgehog Hammer. The Hedgehog Hammer room is also often where a character is placed if they are trying to glitch themselves into other levels and such. Perhaps there are multiple HH Rooms that just serve as dummies, so to speak, and take the place of the levels themselves.

Secret Room

The Secret Room is well...a sceret. Err..not quite. Gamma stumbles in here on accident and sees his brother, E-101 Beta, being upgraded, his left over parts, scattered on the ground. It is also known as Beta's room, or "The Wrong Room" by Gamma.

Hot Shelter

Captain's Room/Living Quarters

Eggman had the decency to provide himself a small living quarters, comprising of a folding wall beds. On one of these beds is an Emblem. The Captain's room has a large Eggman-themed throne that is set on a railed track. The switch to transform the ship is underneath the throne, and the throne can be moved by sitting on it. Gee, what a stumper Eggman. Who would have EVER thought to sit on your throne to find the switch to change the ship underneath it?

Weaponry

The Egg Carrier has a small amount of weaponry to defend itself with. There are several small fighter jets that can be deployed rapidly. A mine field is present near the underbelly of the ship, and the ship is coated with annoying little turrets that fire evil scary looking bombs at the Tornado. Finally, there is an absurdly oversized laser at the front of the ship, nicknamed the "Fly Swatter" or the "Shoop da Whoop" by Eggman. The Laser is defended by the turrets, and it can wipe either Tornado clean out of the skies.

Egg Carrier Crew

The Egg Carrier had a "special" crew to work on it. It consisted mainly of E-series robots, whose sole objective was to find Froggy. The following were it's members:

  • Eggman, as the captain commander.
  • Rouge the Bat as second in command(Only in Sonic Tarradiddles adaption)
  • Shadow as third in command(Only in Sonic Tarradiddles adaption)
  • E-101 Beta Had "special permission" to serve on the ship. However, Eggman just planned on remodeling him and using the left over parts for other things, since Beta was now inferior to Gamma.
  • E-102 Gamma
  • E-103 Delta(Banished to Windy Valley)
  • E-104 Epsilon(Banished to Red Mountain in the original story, to Casinopolis in Sonic Tarradiddles)
  • E-105 Zeta(Banished to Hot Shelter for eternal slave work as machinery)
  • Chaos(Technically)
  • Zero(Although Zero spent more time off the ship pursuing Amy)
  • Playboy Bunnies(Introduce new comers to the ship as a beach-resort)
  • Tails Doll(Whips Playboy bunnies and makes them orgasm)

The remaining crew had to flee when the ship begun to lose altitude. The crew has since been disbanded or destroyed. So much for "the elite Egg Carrier Crew".

Role in the story

Sonic's Story

In Sonic's Story, the ship arrives in time to pick up Eggman and Chaos 4. Sonic chases it, only to be shot down by Eggman's Shoop Da Woop. Later Amy is taken aboard the ship to be raped, so Sonic must chase it again. Once on the ship, Eggman changes the ships shape, forcing Sonic to go through the Sky Deck to rescue Amy and refill his Pink Lemonade. Eggman uses Gamma as a stall to escape and transform Chaos again. After the battle the Egg Carrier begins to lose altitude. Sonic chases Eggman to the Glass Platform, where he fights Chaos 6. He and Eggman jump off the ship before it crashes. Sonic is the second last person to escape the ship

Tails' Story

Pretty much the same as Sonic's until the Egg Carrier loses altitude. There, HE fights Gamma, and rescues Amy from the ship before it crashes. This is the only version of the story where Tails fights Gamma. Tails and Amy are the first ones to escape the ship.

Knuckles the Echidna's Story

Knuckles follows Gamma to the Egg Carrier to find his missing Emerald Shards. There, he accidentally stumbles upon the Secret Sky Deck entrance, and (unknowingly) makes Sonic and Tails' lives miserable by fucking with the controls. Then, Knuckles meets up with Sonic on the Glass Platform. Eggman and Sonic run away, and Chaos 6 comes back for another bout. Knuckles apparently kills it though, and leaves with the 6 Emeralds. He is the last one to escape the ship.

Amy's Story

After Amy is accosted by Zero, she is thrown in the dungeon. She meets Gamma, and Gamma repeats his infamous line "Give me the bird". Amy refuses, and she and Birdie convince Gamma to release her. She escapes through the Hot Shelter and Hedgehog Hammer Room, but is greeted by Eggman on the bridge, who steals Birdie's Chaos Emerald. He then summons Gamma to deal with Sonic and Tails, who have just arrived. Amy intervenes when Sonic and Gamma are about to kill one another. She convinces Sonic to let Gamma live. She is escorted off the ship by Tails. She is one of the first to escape the ship. Later, she comes back to the ruins of the Carrier in the ocean to help find Birdies family, destroying Zero in the process.

Big the Cat's story

In Big's story, Big follows Gamma to the Egg Carrier after he steals Froggy from him. Big then wanders into the Hot Shelter and fishes Froggy out of the pool. Big then wanders to the Glass Platform, where Chaos and Froggy merge. Eggman explains to Big that Froggy was possessed by Chaos' Tail, which explained why he rejected Big and went after the Chaos Emeralds. After Big fishes Froggy out of the watery mutant, Big finds the Tornado 2, and flies it off the ship. He is the third/fourth person to escape.

Gamma's Story

Gamma boards the Egg Carrier early on. He and his brethren are deployed to capture Froggy. Of course, being retards, none of them get the right one except for Gamma. Eggman declares that Gamma is made of win, and banishes the other 3 right in front of Gamma. Gamma is then sent to go retrieve Birdie for Eggman, but the turnstile pushes Gamma into the wrong room. Without thought, Gamma enters, only to find his "superior" big brother Beta being mangled in front of his two robotic eyes. He simply leaves, and then pursues Amy. After bitching with Amy for about 20 minutes Gamma release Amy, and is then instructed to kill Sonic. Gamma proceeds, but is stopped by Amy. He is convinced by Amy to leave the ship. He is the second/third person to escape. After the crash Gamma returns to "rescue" Zeta and Beta. He is lead to one last painful confrontation on the Glass Platform with Beta. Afterwords, Beta dies, hating Gamma. Gamma, injured, commits suicide on the Glass Platform.

Ultimate Fate

The Egg Carrier ultimately suffers a fate of crashing into the ocean. Afterwords, Eggman and co abandon the ship, leaving it open as a tourist attraction. The ship to this day is still floating aimlessly in the ocean. I wonder why the government hasn't taken it to Area 51 yet... Somehow, everything, including the transformation mechanisms and Sky Deck, is all still functional. Seemingly, only the flight capabilities have been shot.

Egg Carrier 2

Eggman built a second Egg Carrier in case the first one crashed and Chaos got out of hand. Obviously, both happened, so Eggman was forced to take out the big guns. Eggman then flew his Egg Carrier to Perfect Chaos, hoping to put the beast under control with his Shoop Da Woop/Fly Swatter 2. Before the laser can fire though, Chaos fires a SHoop Da Woop of his own, slicing the Carrier in half. It crashes in Station Square, sending Eggman to a fate similar to that of Team Rocket. The Egg Carrier 2 was not so lucky however; between the crash and the laser, it was completely destroyed.

Trivia

  • Amy and Gamma are the only characters the return to the carrier after the crash.
  • All of the cast besides Tails has to fight a boss battle atop the Glass Platform
    • 3 of the said boss fights are against Chaos 6.
  • In Knuckles' story, the Glass Platform is damaged in the Chaos 6 fight. However, after the ship crashes, it is suddenly repaired.
  • The Pool seems to drain and refill depending on the ships mode.
  • The Egg Carrier Chao Garden is not in or on the Egg Carrier itself.
  • The password for the Chao Garden teleporter is EGGMAN.
  • There are no Cream the Rabbit Cameos or Bulletin boards on the Egg Carrier.
  • There may have been at one point a plan for Eggman to have an entire fleet of Egg Carriers, since they generally seem to resemble aircraft carriers and don't really have any other purpose.
  • 4 E-series robots died on the Egg Carrier.
    • And 3 of them died on the Glass Platform.
  • Changing the ships tilt can cause Sonic/Knuckles to feel a gravity change ala Death Egg/Cosmic Angel/Egg Utopia/Dead Line.
