Sonamy (Sometimes written as SonAmy or SonXAmy) is the name of belief in the Sonic Fandom that Sonic the Hedgehog and Amy Rose have a romantic relationship. It is the most plausible and canon possible pairing for Sonic the Hedgehog, but many are still torn on weather the blue blur should have a relationship at all.
Common thoughts associated with SonAmy
Many people who believe in SonAmy have the following traits in common:
- Most of them think that Sonic is bashful of said interest in Amy
- Most of them are under the impression that Sonic and Amy do indeed spend time together when not on an adventure to stop Dr. Eggman
Evidence
People that believe in SonAmy have very strong evidence, as Amy's love for Sonic is indeed canon as of today, but if you played Sonic games you might already know and be annoyed by it 4/4Sonic AdventureSonic HeroesSonic BattleSonic and the Black Knight. Sonic has been mentioned to have agreed to various dates with Amy, and although Sonic hasn't taken it past dating, Amy has had thoughts of getting hitched and making babies. More interestingly is that in Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood the player can have Sonic respond to Amy in romantic ways, though it has no effect on the overall storyline. And of course, there's that one episode of Sonic X where Sonic actually mentions to Amy he loves her, but we all know that's just those French peoples being insanely romanticized as usual.
The opposition
The downside of SonAmy is that the opposition also has a strong game. Sonic frequently denies any romantic feelings for Amy, and actually runs away from her frequently like she's a creepy stalker 5/5PedobearRisukumaclownThe FishermanSchezo Wegey. Furthermore, Amy's rather aggressive and sociopathic tenancies have Sonic collapsing before her just to ensure his own safety, as well as that of his friends. Sonic X isn't usually considered canon, making the statement from the aforementioned episode even more controversial. Of course, the opposition may stem from denial caused by bias for their own personal feelings for Sonic 9/9SonicXShadowSonicXTailsSonicXEliseSonicXSallyHoney the CatTiara BoobowskiTailsXAmySharaMerlina... or Amy. Some may even think Eggman might have the hots for Amy, but we all know that's just plain wrong!
