Madou Monogatari I, more often known as Madou Monogatari Genesis, is a game in the Madou Monogatari series. It is more or less, a remake of Madou Monogatari 1 for the SEGA Genesis/Megadrive, enhanced to take advantage of it's features over the old PC98 and MSX versions. As such, it tells the story of how a young Arle Nadja graduated Magical Kindergarten, featuring cameos from many other famous Madou Puyo characters. The biggest differences this version supports from it's original predecessors where the inclusions of Camus and Lala in the plot, as well as featuring a cameo from Satan, who did not appear at all in the original. It also has a battle system that involves memorizing and using a series of commands on the control pad to cast spells, and inputting these commands as quickly as possible to keep Arle attacking is key, even though several enemies can be manipulated into basically killing themselves and still reward you with EXP.

The music was remastered by Tsuyoshi Matsushima, who previously workd on Puyo Puyo TSU, and Polygon Junkie, the mysterious alias of a Compile employee who's real name may never be discovered. Most of the soundtrack is remixes from OPP, TSU, and Madou Monogatari 1-2-3 itself, although there are a couple of tracks that may be exclusive to this version of the game.
