Wind is one of the basic elements, representing wind, air and the manipulation or travel thereof. Depending on the context, it can be kind of a sucky element. Flying type in Pokemon, for example, has weaknesses to both the common Electric element and Ice element representatives. Some portrayals of the element even make it completely harmless; unable to do any damage on its own without mixing with another element.
Wind element, despite its suckiness for attacking, is actually a good element for traveling and setting obstacles, promoting flight and knocking aircraft and stray Cirnos people off course.
