Emerl, also known correctly as Gemel and incorrectly as Gemerl, G-mel and Gmel, is a very advanced robot who debuted in Sonic Battle. He was apparently created 4,000 years ago and has ultimate pow-- oh wait, that's a lie, just like with Shadow the Hedgehog and all those other so-called ultimate creations.

In Sonic Battle, you spend the game teaching him techniques of other characters. Eventually, Dr. Eggman causes him to go nuts and destroy the world, so Sonic the Hedgehog defeats him. He apparently vanishes, but Eggman finds him in the beginning of Sonic Advance 3 and repaints him black and yellow with the name Gemel. In this game he is a Goldfish Poop Gang who at the end of the game absorbs the Chaos Emeralds' power from Super Sonic (though does not actually take the Emeralds themselves, allowing Super Sonic to follow him) and goes insane for a second time.

Emerl liked to battle and called it "playing". He and Cream spent many long hours together, playing games, having fun, and even living with in the Rabbit Household. However, when Emerl went insane, Cream had to help Sonic kick his ass in order to knock some sense into him, but accidentally ending up killing him. Cream was sad. After that, the reborn Gemel paid visits to Cream, and was eventually revived, having been repaired by Tails and herself.
