Deep Core (InstanceTopic, 10)

From Compile Worlds

Deep Core is a volcano on Southern Island. It is the location of another epic battle of Sonic the Hedgehog and Blaze the Cat vs. Eggman and Eggman Nega (with some help from Marine the Raccoon). It is accessible to Sonic and Blaze after they acquire the Chaos Emeralds and Sol Emeralds. Here, Eggman Nega and Eggman use the Jeweled Scepter and the Egg-Wizard to unlock the power of the stars. Sonic and Blaze must then go Super/Burning and stop the mad Eggmen from using the power for evil. At first it seems like they are succeeding as usual. Eggman even gives in. However, Eggman Nega isn't going to stop at this "minor setback" and hold of gaining all the powers of Hell, not to mention killing someone. He activates a lazer on the Egg Wizard, oblivious to the fact that in addition to killing Sonic and Blaze, it would blow up him, Eggman, and the whole fucking planet. However, Marine stops the lasers charge simply by throwing a rock at the Wizard, distracting Eggman Nega, who is now probably raging at Marine just for throwing a rock. Sonic and Blaze take the cue and blow up the Wizard before Eggman Nega can go on a psychotic rampage.

Theme

Deep Core has one of the most awesome final zone themes ever. It is only second to Wrapped in Black, the Doomsday Zone, and the True Area 53 theme.

Trivia

  • Deep Core is the only final zone to have it's Allegro theme on the soundtrack.
  • The name of the boss, the Egg Wizard, was discovered by viewing the Eggmen's voice in the sound test.
  • This is also one of the few final zones in a Sonic game to not take place in outer space; instead Deep Core is inside a Volcano.
    • It is also the first final zone to be featured in Another World.
  • Tails makes a drill especially for reaching this zone.
  • This is one of the few times where Eggman fights fire with fire quite literally.
  • Deep Core's name was leaked before the release of the game via the soundtrack listing, provoking much stupid speculation among Sonic fans.
