Compile is a company who started making video games when we played them on things like the crappy old MSX and PC98. Though they started with the cheap dungeon crawler Madou Monogatari, the best game they were responsible for creating was Puyo Puyo. They have the best naming skills ever, and created over 9000 characters to appear in both of these games. Though they are the epic communists behind the win that is Puyo Puyo TSU, they are also the ones who created the lukewarm Puyo Puyo~n, and the overtly obscure Puyo Puyo Gaiden! Puyo Wars. The failures of the latter lead them to split in half after filing for bankruptcy and selling their soul to SEGA.
