Shitsurakuen (InstanceTopic, 7)

Shitsurakuen is a manga about a mysogynistic academy. Except not, if you read far enough into it. In any case, they set up Exaclan, a virtual battle system kind of like BakaTest, where the male students battle using the female students as weapons, by pulling the weapons out of their chests (however that works). Its focus is on the one girl who managed to get the privilege to play in the otherwise male-only game who wants to save all the other girls, her princesses.
It's got its fair share of cute girls in any case...
Characters
- Himoto Sora
- The "protagonist" of the series. She has a great sense of justice, and strives to overrun the sexism going on in the school. She has been given the controlling glove - usually only given to males - so she can "own" the other girls and use their weapons. However, she tends to point out a lot that she isn't just "using" the girls, rather she wants to work together with them.
- Aoi Tsuki
- A mysterious girl who somehow appears exempt from Exaclan, until you find out that
she's a trapshe's actually owned by the guy running the entire thing who actually wants it gone too (then why did he set it up?). As such, she knows a lot about the system and helps Sora where she can.
- Izaki Koharu
- A large-breasted girl who is in love with Sora and was the first to be "saved" from male ownership. Her weapon is a long, double-barrel rifle.
- Yagizawa Yuki
- The second girl to be saved, and the second to fall for Sora, though she keeps this in check a bit better than
KohakuKoharu. She was subject to a lot of physical abuse before she was saved, and it turns out that her weapon is very weak, a short dagger. So she tends to stay indoors most of the time and isn't seen much. Until spoilers happen, anyway...
- Oashi Tomoko
- A timid middle-school girl who does not like to stand out by being owned by Sora, or her male ally Karin. Though this gets her back into trouble with the "bad" guys, she later comes back to Sora, getting rather agitated at Reiko in contrast to her original personality. Her weapon is a spear, leading her to be nicknamed spear loli. Her other distinctive feature is the mini twintails, resembling kemonomimi, giving her another nickname of hair-ear loli.
- Date Reiko
- A tsundere who is in love with Sumita, her owner until
Sora winsSumita loses on purpose. Even so, Sora releases her after much protest (and having to restrain Tomoko from beating her to a pulp), and she sets out to become Sumita's weapon again. However, this doesn't quite work out, and she gets taken in by the crazy guy of the bunch instead, much to her peril. Her weapon is a mace.
- Shishidou Hiyo
- A Genki Girl... well, it turns out she was doing a
KoharuKohaku all along. Yes, in truth, she's out to get you! Or Sora, as I should say. Her weapon is an axe.
