A maid (meido), in anime, is a housekeeper, that's usually a young woman with a ribbon or bow on her head, and are usually seen wearing a French maid outfit (or kimonos). They are usually very violently dedicated to their jobs, oblivious to whomever they're looking after. Or, they will a crush on their boss, who they will call goshujin-sama, or ojou-sama.
