∨∨∨∨∨∨, also known as The Letter ∨ Six Times or simply ∨6, is a Metroid∨ania-ish game for ∨indows, Mac and Linux, though prior to ∨ersion 2.0 it ran in Adobe Flash.

It can be played one-handed using just the arrow keys, as the only buttons used for mo∨ement are left, right and an action button which is mapped to up, down, z, ∨ and the Ad∨enture Bar, whiche∨er takes your fancy. Although the enter and escape keys are important too, they are infrequently used during gameplay.

The six characters of the game - you and your crewmates - all ha∨e names starting with the letter ∨, which are Captain ∨iridian, Doctor ∨iolet, Doctor ∨ictoria, Officer ∨ermillion, Professor ∨itellary and Chief ∨erdigris. They are also coloured accordingly to their names, forming the three primary and three secondary colors of the RGB color space.

The second most common explanation for the game's name (after the initials of the crewmates) is that there are a heck of a lot of spikes in the game, and this gained enough attention that the official Nintendo 3DS port included detailed information on all these spikes.

Like many other awesome indie games, ∨∨∨∨∨∨ is an homage to old consoles/computers, especially the C64, with a 320x240 resolution, a small color palette, chiptune music, and a focus on actual gameplay rather than trying to imitate a mo∨ie.

Soundtrack

⍴⍴⍴⍴⍴⍴, the game's e⍴ic soundtrack, was written by Souleye, after which the shi⍴ is named (D.S.S. Souleye). It contains sixteen tracks, all with names beginning with the letter ⍴, and many of the names bring encouragement, such as "⍴ushing onwards", "⍴assion for exploring", "⍴ositive force" and "⍴otential for anything". Unsur⍴risingly, these tracks live very well u⍴ to their names, and are clearly res⍴onsible for enabling Keiji to beat the game on his first try taking two and a half hours, after saying for ages that it's the kind of game he'd ⍴athetically suck at. He also likes to listen to these songs while ⍴rogramming or ⍴laying Minecraft.

Remakes and Demakes

∁∁∁∁∁∁∁∁∁∁ would be the most well-known rip-off ∁lone of ∨∨∨∨∨∨. It is a Win32 ∁onsole appli∁ation, so its video output is done purely in 80x24 text mode with 16 ∁olors. Sadly, like any other Win32 ∁onsole appli∁ations, it ∁an't be made fulls∁reen on Windows Vista or 7, nor will it run in DOSBox. It has a similarly amazing soundtra∁k ∁alled ƒƒƒƒƒƒƒƒƒƒ (second only to the original ⍴⍴⍴⍴⍴⍴), where all the song titles start with the letter ƒ, and which includes one remix ƒrom the original, aptly titled "ƒushing onwards". It also includes a remix of a Michael Jackson song, titled "ƒriller".

There ha∨e been a few attempts to create 3D spinoffs of ∨∨∨∨∨∨, but so far, none ha∨e succeeded.
