From Compile Worlds

This is a list of all the computers at Keiji's home.

Pre-2001
There were four computers before 2001, with no exact dates. In chronological order however, these are:
  • a MS-DOS desktop with no mouse
  • a Windows 3.11 desktop with just 256MiB of hard disk space
  • a ridiculously heavy Windows 3.11 laptop
  • a Windows 98SE desktop with a 13GB hard disk.
All of the above computers have been sold on.
c2001 (unknown date)
A BCS desktop bought with Windows 98SE, but now runs the copy of Windows XP that was bought with c2004.
This was his mom's computer. However, it recently broke, and apparently there's a problem with either the memory or the motherboard.
The problem was with the motherboard. He took it to pieces and soon he will try to rebuild it with various parts to see if he can get a working fourth tower unit in the attic.
Actually he gave up on that, since he can't be bothered, so it's just kinda sitting on his desk in pieces now.
c2002 (December 23)
A Toshiba laptop bought with Windows XP, but now dual-boots Windows XP and Kubuntu. 256MiB RAM, 20GB hard disk, 1.8GHz processor, 1024x768 screen. Still good as new! Apart from the crack in the lid, that is.
This was used as his main computer until c2004 arrived.
This was used again as his messaging computer for some time before he got c2009.
Now, it's not used at all, and just sits in a box.
c2004 (December 23)
A BCS desktop bought with Windows XP. It was then wiped and ran Ubuntu 6.10 for some time, then it was reverted to XP, then it ran Kubuntu for a while, and now it's been put back to XP again. 512MiB RAM, 80GB hard disk, 3.1GHz processor, 1680x1050 screen.
This was used as his main computer until c2006 arrived, after which time it was used interchangeably with c2006, and then interchangeably with c2008 when that arrived.
It has now been reverted back to Windows XP for a third time, and was mainly used in the attic as a computer to watch videos on. Since then, it was moved into the lounge, but is still used to watch videos on... just a lot more comfortably.
c2006 (December 23)
A Novatech laptop running Ubuntu. This was very well known for severe hardware failures, and Keiji eventually took it to pieces after buying c2008. 512MiB RAM, 80GB hard disk, 3.1GHz processor, 1280x800 screen.
This was used as his main computer until c2008 arrived. It now sits in around a dozen pieces in two boxes. It still works, but the processor sounds like a frying pan when it's running.
c2007 (June-ish)
A crappy Novatech desktop which ran Windows Vista. 1GiB RAM, 80GB hard disk, 3.1GHz processor, 1280x1024 screen.
Was used in place of c2004 when Windows is required, and used to play the Wii on. After c2009 appeared, it ran a variety of different Linux distributions: Fedora, Kubuntu, Linux Mint LXDE and now it's currently running Xubuntu 10.04. This computer is used when Keiji wants to test Oxygen on a Linux system.
Alan (February 1, 2008)
A Novatech laptop running Windows Vista. Crappy specs.
This is his dad's computer.
Nanako (February 27, 2008)
A Novatech server running Ubuntu Server Edition. 1GiB RAM, 500GB + 80GB hard disks, 3.1GHz processor.
Used all the time. Nanako hosts all of Keiji's important files without exception.
c2008 (November 16)
An awesome BCS laptop bought with Windows Vista. 2GiB RAM (which has never been exhausted or even been close to filling up), 160GB hard disk, Intel Core 2 Duo 2x1.8GHz processors, 1280x800 screen.
This is used as his main computer.
julia2009 (May 16)
The exact same model as c2008, except it has only 1GiB RAM, a 120GB hard disk and an Intel Celeron D.
This is his mom's computer.
c2009 (June 20)
A ridiculously awesome BCS desktop running Windows 7. 2GiB RAM, 250GB hard disk (of which 64GiB is the Win7 partition and the rest is unused as he keeps anything important on the network), Intel Q9550 quad core processor.
Replaced c2007 as his main Windows computer.
