A school is a place where kiddies go to learn stuff. Most schools cover a broad range of subjects, but there are some such as the Primp Magic School that are extremely specialized.
School is a frequent setting in anime, as it gives loads of opportunities to meet all sorts of weird and wonderful characters as well as being comfortably realistic and something that everyone can relate to. What gets really odd, though, is when the main characters go off on an adventure and nobody seems to notice that they've been inexplicably absent from school for weeks.
