Shingetsutan Tsukihime, sometimes called Lunar Legend Tsukihime, is the official anime adaptation of TYPE-MOON's awesome visual novel Tsukihime.

It features the same cast of characters as the visual novel (even Sacchin), and the story loosely follows Arcueid's True Ending. Loosely.
Apparently they felt Arcueid's story was too boring, so they spliced in elements from other routes, leaving a googol of unanswered questions to anyone who wasn't already familiar with the visual novel.

The character designs also leave a bit to be desired. While they're apparently based on the original designs in Tsukihime, for some reason every character looks pretty damn manly, especially the females, even poor Kohaku...

Perhaps the worst thing however, is the complete change in the characters personalities. Tohno Shiki in the game was optimistic and happy despite being afflicted with anemia and seeing all sorts of weird stuff going on. In the anime, he's pretty much emofag. Arcueid in the game was childlike and playful most of the time, but in the anime she's almost always serious, I can't remember if she ever even smiled...

Despite all this, it still has a pretty good soundtrack, the only redeeming feature...

In the end, it's best just to stare at the image on the right and let the Brainwasher Detective do her work...

To be completely fair though, it's probably not that bad if you didn't already know and love the characters and story before watching it...
