Princess Elise III is arguably the single biggest mistake of a character Sonic Team ever created. She promotes bestiality and all sorts of nasty things by being Sonic the Hedgehog's primary love interest in the Sonic 360 prototype. She also creates an annoying Princess Peach cliche by forcing you to carry her throughout the levels and getting held hostage in Bowser's Castle Eggman's Base. They justify this all by making her the center of the plot, where the fire demon Iblis has been sealed inside her soul. Crying would apparently release Iblis, so Mephiles, Iblis' mind, kills Sonic to make Elise cry, releasing his body and therefore allowing him to become whole again. Elise finally does something useful when she erases the events of the entire game from history. Thus, none of this god-awful fanfiction-esque bullshit never happened.
