The Mario series is a collection of probably the most well known games ever. These include:

Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2 Japanese/North American, Super Mario Bros. 3, New Super Mario Bros. and New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Super Mario World and Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Super Mario Land and Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, leading on to...
- Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3, Wario Land 2, Wario Land 3, Wario Land 4, Wario World, Wario: Master of Disguise and Wario Land: The Shake Dimension
- and those silly WarioWare games
Paper Mario, The Thousand-Year Door and Super Paper Mario

and a bunch of other spinoffs and over 9000 fangames.

Worlds

Mario games are almost always comprised of a number of worlds. These are large sections of the game encompassing a number of levels, stages or areas. There are usually eight worlds in a game, though some games defy this.
