The (Wheel of) Fortune (not to be confused with Ms. Fortune or that silly game show), is a primary antagonist of the Magical Drop series, first appearing in Magical Drop III. She has the power to manipulate all of time and age with the 'dark wheels' that encircle her body. Like most villains of puzzle games though, nobody takes her seriously, and so her fruitless efforts become more and more desperate in each passing game.

Appearances

In Magical Drop III

In Magical Drop III, Fortune appears as the final boss of the classic Arcade mode, but apparently not in the Magical Journey boardgame mode. She is participating in the magical drop contest of course, to grant her wish and become the dark queen of the world. Her AI even increases in difficulty if you score high! Unfortunately for Fortune, she loses the battle, and her powers severely backfire, causing her to become an infant, halting any evil plans she may have had for quite a long time.

In Magical Drop F

A radically different version of Fortune appears in Magical Drop F, with green hair and red robes. (Satan anyone?) Nobody knows if this is the same Fortune as III and V's Fortune, due to the shakey status of F's canonicity. In fact, Data East could have totally pulled a Panel De Pon on us and created a completely different character and had them fill the same name and role just to piss us off. Once again, she serves as the final boss of the game. She is defeated unceremoniously however, giving the player only a lame "Clear" text as reward.

In Magical Drop V

Canon!Fortune returns in Magical Drop V, and as a demented SF-A2 Miki-inspired loli no less! Needless to say, she's out for revenge. Not that we blame her; you'd be pretty damn pissed too if you got turned into a baby and had to get raised again by a giant slug king. Once again, she is trying to use the power of the Magical Drop to become the dark queen of everything and yadda yadda yadda. Despite her reborn powers and new fanservicey design though, she once again loses to the character the player chooses, her fate after remaining a mystery. Maybe this time she had better reign on her dark wheels and didn't want to have Mushmorn play daddy for her again.

Theme music

Needless to say, being the final boss of the series and being the only character from MDIII to reappear in MDV, Fortune has consistently kept her theme, "Final Battle" for two of her appearances. And yes, just because she's the final boss means she has the best theme in the game. No seriously. It's the best. MDF does not have a remix of FInal Battle, but a similar, yet slightly more eerie and emotional piece plays in it's stead, further alluding to the fact that MDF may have tried to reboot her character.
