An acronym is a series of letters used to represent a phrase. Acronyms are widely used over the internets as they are quick and easy to type and take hardly any screen space. Occasionally, acronyms will be used IRL by some idiot who doesn't know what it stands for but is using it anyway just to look cool.
Three-letter acronyms
The most important acronyms contain three letters.
A three-letter acronym, otherwise known as a TLA which is itself a three-letter acronym, is (surprise surprise) an acronym with three letters in it (or in some cases, numbers or other characters). It's often suggested that the most important acronyms are TLAs, in fact, they're apparently so important that even Wikipedia needs an article about them.
