Hello, welcome to assburgers. How may I help you today?

Aspergite is found deep underground. It was added in the first update of Minecraft Alpha and requires no smelting to be used. When Aspergite is destroyed, it drops 4-5 piles of Spergous Oxide (for simplicity and a better name, this is often also called "Aspergite"). This can be placed on the ground to make a wire system or crafted with a stick to make a Aspergite Torch. These items are very useful in the production of more complex traps or spergotronic mechanisms.

The Great Naming Controversy

Notch has not given an official name to the red ore. Therefore, there has been much debate on what to call it. However, he calls the red torches "red torch thingies", as seen in his twitter. Common nicknames that are currently thrown about in absence of an official label include "Aspergite", "High Functioning Autismium", "Trisomi-21", "Energon", "Bloodstone", "Goatseium", "Electrum", "Inventium", "Sciencium", "Copium", "Cuprite", "Batmanium" and "Red Stuff".

It has been speculated that this mineral might be intended as copper ore, although Notch denies it (source: Malikat's livestream).

The name Aspergite is currently used by the Wiki administration, as it resembles the real-life condition the most.

Users are encouraged to discuss the name on his article's talk page.

In-game Uses

The introduction of Aspergite brought with it the mechanic of Aspergers Circuits, making it possible to create circuits linked with switches, buttons, and logic gates, which can currently be tied to doors, minecart tracks and TNT.

Talk page

TL;DR: Kawachan is a bad-joke shop, not a wiki.

Why The Trolls win pt2: Notch's Twitter The red stuff is now officially called Redstone and Redstone Dust. And that has always been the name. Redstone Torch! Redstone [SECRET]!

FUCK YOUR CUPRITE

I'm sorry, but, if the wiki admins don't have the right to name a mineral in the game (even temporarily) because they don't have anything to do with the development of that game, how do you people from /v/ hope to demonstrate that by editing a wiki you don't have anything to do with the development/administration of? It's just hypocritical. Name it Red Ore. If Notch gives it a name, it's that. If he doesn't, then it's fucking Red Ore. And everyone can just deal with it.

And where the hell is the administrator!? Lock the god damned wiki for christ's sake. -- Mopquill

Why the trolls win: Notch's Twitter

I'm not naming it Aspergite, you clever trolls you!
about 5 hours ago via web

This is stupid. The picture is a laugh, the name is idiotic, and you've redirected Cuprite to it. Someone fix this and get rid of G-Riff before I go mad :(. Stupid troll. --Cooldudetb 20:26, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

I suggest that an Edit Protection be placed on Cuprite and it's related articles till this whole thing blows over. The vandals are just a bunch of angsty teenagers on summer break. Hey seriously now, what's wrong with calling it red dust or red stuff. Absolutely nothing, I don't have anything wrong with "red ore", but these 4chan faggots think they're funny by spouting shit like aspergers everywhere. Their mothers will put them to bed shortly though, don't worry.

yes nobody has anything wrong with red ore, this is a reaction to the admins' insistence that their chosen name, which is also astoundingly inaccurate according to notch himself, MUST be the one which is used. does this make sense now? if you want to force a dumb name, we will too, and i bet more people call it aspergite than cuprite now.
You are again missing every god damn point ever.
THE POINT IS NOT IF IT IS THERMITE, CUPRITE, CORDITE, POTASSIUM CHLORATE, OR FUCKING TALC DILDOES. THE POINT IS THAT SOME FAGGOTS THINK IT IS FUNNY TO VANDALIZE OUR SHIT AND CALL IT ::ASPERGITE. I AM ALMOST WILLING TO BET THAT YOU ARE ONE OF SAID FAGGOTS. GOOD DAY, SIR AND OR MADAM.
THE POINT IS THAT IF YOU DECIDE ARBITARILY THAT YOU HAVE THE GOD GIVEN RIGHT TO NAME SOMETHING IN A GAME YOU HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH CREATING AND THEN ENFORCE IT ON OTHER PEOPLE THEN THEY MAY GET A TAD PISSED OFF WHEN YOU DEMAND THAT YOU ARE CORRECT - User:Drone
well gee maybe i'm erasing your trolling because you are a 4chan kid and are not wanted here.
Then what's the point of maintaining a talk page, chucklefuck?
you really don't get it do you? this is exactly why this is happening. also wrong on the 4chan, they just jumped in on it too.

Calling this article cuprite again at this point would be counterproductive. either leave it as aspergite or rename it to red/red dust. Anything else will be reverted to aspergite.

So don't fucking expect everyone to respect your "decrees." You don't make the game, and you have no connection to the making of the game.

Agreeing with this statement here. --EveryoneElse 20:34, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Cuprite is a shitty name, noone likes it, this is a much more legitimate name.

It's like if notch put a gun in the game and you sperglords wanted to call it a "ferrous lead slug projector".

No one ever mentioned Aspergite? I think we need a neutral name until we find a better name. I suggest we should use the names: Red ore, Red dust and Red circuits. --Samonite 20:36, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

I agree, lets stick with Aspergite.

Meh. You'll just lol your way through today and eventually someone will change it back and you'll not care enough to change it again. This too shall pass... 20:49, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Coolpilot will you marry me?

^^ spoken like a true sperg lord

No, not really. Maybe people will stop calling it Aspergite, but Cuprite is just too dumb of a name to stay.

How about Red Dust / Red Ore? Then someone who's looking for this page will be able to actually find it. 20:53, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

--i came, i saw, i lol'd. aspergite? fucking classic. nice pics too.

If any Minepedia moderators/admins are reading this, the people who vandalized the article are from /v/. They are trolls, and they are trolling you, ignore them. I swear, they're like attention hungry dogs. Just let them starve and rot.

Also, has Notch confirmed that Cuprite is the name of the mineral? I had always considered it to be loosely based off of Thermite, or Cordite.

he has definitely confirmed that it cannot be cuprite because it isn't copper, and also that it isn't electricity, it's magic.

This is a Wiki, not a bad-joke shop. Keep to a decent article. I will keep reverting all day, if I have too. My edit calls the ore "Red Ore" (although that stupid "Aspergite" still lingers up top... don't know how to get rid of it). This is done as a temporary measure until a REAL name is ACTUALLY agreed upon by the community. --Faggot 21:18, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Notch has confirmed in IRC that it is not any sort of ore, but it is in fact magic dust. The very notion that it would be any logical or realistic material is frankly silly. Everyone involved should give up and let the wizards to their work.

just gonna bold this for everyone

How about a "T for Troll" tag or something like that for humorous pages, kind of like the "D for Dwarf" those Dwarf Fortress guys have? That way we can keep this and other non-serious pages while making it easier to moderate the more serious content.

I concur. Putting a "T For Troll" tag on the Cuprite page would work wonders, but we'd have to have it stop redirecting to Aspergite first. WOuldn't want people accidentally calling Aspergite "cuprite" now would we?
