The Mario series is a collection of probably the most well known games ever. These include:

- Super Mario World and Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
- Super Mario Land and Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, leading on to...

Mario games are almost always comprised of a number of worlds. These are large sections of the game encompassing a number of levels, stages or areas. There are usually eight worlds in a game, though some games defy this.
