Petey Piranah is a walking, bikini-wearing piranah plant that first appeared in Super Mario Sunshine, and has been a shoe-in of the Mario series since. It is one of those bizarre cases when an enemy character is made playable. Even in games where Petey is NOT playable or a boss, references to it are still made, and it has now become THE Boss Piranah Plant, replacing the Navel Piranah stereotype set in earlier years. Recently however, it seems Petey has retired somewhat, only appearing when the cast is astronomically large.
