Olivine city is a city in the Johto region. It is probably best known for the lighthouse, where Amphy, Jasmine's Ampharos, flashes the lighthouse with that tail. Most of us wouldn't even care about it if (1) Curious people don't exist, (2) Level grinders don't exist, and best of all, (3) It's required to get Jasmine to fight you.
Let's get to the truly interesting part: it's the home of a gym for steel-type trainers (Only one, by the way) and its leader is the pretty Jasmine, with her two electric magnet balls of steel and her giant steel snake.
