A n00b is an idiot that makes stupid posts on forums and IRC and plays online games stupidly. The majority of n00bs are stupid kids and as such will eventually stop being a n00b when they grow up. However there are also some lucky 11-year-olds who aren't at all n00bs and are actually really awesome. The opposite is also true - there are some people who never stop being a n00b, even in their thirties and up.
One who acts like a n00b, yet deliberately, is referred to as a troll instead. The word "n00b" is based off of the word "newbie" and combined with "b00b". Newbies are just people who are new, rather than people who are stupid.
