A Green mushroom, also commonly called a 1-up Mushroom or an Extra Life, is a magical mushroom that will give you an extra life upon consumption. This makes them good snacks to eat when on your death bed.

Green Mushrooms are found in question mark boxes sometimes, but more frequently, they show up in hidden blocks and even an occasional note block or turn block(is that what they're called?). Sometimes, these little fungi are placed in locations that usually require the player to narrowly avoid death just to collect the damn thing.

Often, they resemble red mushrooms, but sometimes, they bear "1-Up" on their caps instead of white spots, making them even more difficult to name.

Interestingly, Green mushrooms do not appear in any Mario RPGs aside from the Mario and Luigi series, where they are called 1-Up Shrooms and can revive a fallen character with half HP. Additionally, there are also 1-Up Supers, which are beefed-up 1-Up shrooms that revive a character with full HP.
