Portal (InstanceTopic, 3)
From Compile Worlds
This page is about generic portals. For other uses, see Portal (disambiguation).
A portal is a two-dimensional object which has the unique characteristic that its two sides can take vastly different locations in space and, occasionally, time. Objects, or parts thereof, moving into one side of a portal will move out of the other side with the same speed.
Portals have been common themes in video games, such as the Portal series itself. They have also been used in h-manga for things we'll leave to your imagination. Another notable example appears in a particular episode of Ed, Edd n Eddy where the portal is somehow created by sawing a hole in the sky.
Minecraft has objects called "portals", though these are really teleporters. The distinction is that you can go straight through a portal to get to its destination (it follows that portals are bidirectional), while if you walk straight through a Minecraft portal you stay in the same area of space, so you must wait in it for a few seconds to actually arrive at your destination.
