Bitcoin is a digital currency, created in 2009 by a Japanese genius known as Satoshi Nakamoto, who apparently vanished after the project was released.
It's a distributed network, meaning that no central authority is responsible for your money. This allows anyone to start trading with Bitcoins without providing any identification whatsoever, but on the flip side, you have nobody to look to for help if you lose your bitcoins.
As of June 26, 2011, all existing Kawachan installations accept Bitcoin donations. That feature disappeared an unknown amount of time ago...
