A n00b is the most common type of retard you'll see on the internet outside of the cultures of chan boards (containing mostly /b/tards and EDiots) and fanfaggotry (containing mostly fanboys). They often make stupid posts on forums and IRC and play online games stupidly. They won't take no for an answer and can't understand why they can't get their way. They're also constantly trying to befriend people. Keep a watchful eye for these guys and avoid those "friendships" as they're only going to annoy you later.
The majority of n00bs are stupid kids. Thankfully, most n00bs will grow up eventually and become normal respectable netizens. However there are also some lucky 11-year-olds who aren't at all n00bs and are actually really awesome. The opposite is also true - there are some people who never stop being a n00b, even in their thirties and up.
One who acts like a n00b, yet deliberately, is referred to as a troll instead. The word "n00b" is based off of the word "newbie" and combined with "b00b". Newbies are just people who are new, rather than people who are stupid.
