Hammerspace is a space in which giant hammers are manifested from, accessed via a portal, portable hole, or plot hole. It is commonly abused in anime for comic relief, and the hammers drawn from it are usually PikoPiko Hammers, which make silly noises when you hit someone with them. However, in some cases, a giant mallet or sledge hammer can be pulled from Hammerspace, causing the unlucky victim much pain and torture.
Not quite so often is the appearance of an item other than a variety of hammer. These items are usually the result of lazy writers or roleplayers magically warping an item into someone's hand for the sake of advancing the plot. It is quite common for a Hammerspace portal to be in some girl's panties, causing much lolz and happy minutes to males everywhere. Less often though is a Hammerspace portal in a guy's boxerz, which is depressing for the female population of the planet.
