Torture may refer to an act of inflicting severe pain on someone (Or something) for personal gain (verb), or it may refer to severe physical and/or emotional pain one can go through (Which, obviously, may come from the former. Anyway, noun). Obviously, both definitions aren't pointing to pretty things at all, unless you're a sadist or masochist.
