'''Professor Oak''', often abbreviated to '''Prof. Oak''' or just '''Oak''', is the [[Number:1|first]] [[Pokémon Professor|Pokémon]] [[Professor]] in the [[Pokémon series]], claiming to be the "authority on [[Pokémon]]". (Though we all know Oak studies Pokémon as much as [[The Professor]] studies [[Puyo]].) He is an old, [[gender confused]] man, who has [[senior moment]]s rather frequently, unless [[Blue (trainer)|his grandson]] is there for him to lash at. He gives the player their [[Pokédex]] and [[Starter Pokémon]], thus allowing them to go on their very own Pokémon journey. Oak is cited however, as being lazy by [[Daisy Oak|his granddaughter]], because he won't go fill the Pokédex himself. Later on, he flies around to [[Johto]] and [[Sinnoh]] to host [[radio shows]] and hand out [[HM]]s randomly. He doesn't seem to show the same kind of respect to his own family though, which is probably why they live in a [[Blue's House|separate house from him]].

The crazy old coot makes other appearances in the various spin off games, usually to shower their protagonists with even more fancy [[gift]]s and [[item]]s in an act of generosity that may be pushing his sanity. He even appears to tutor the player through the [[fourth wall]] on how to play [[Pokémon Puzzle League]] with his very own [[Nintendo 64]] [[controller]]. [[Creepy]]!
