An edit is the primary unit of contribution to a wiki, done to a page.

Types of edits

Most edits fall into one of the following categories:

Major edit
The editor added some new information to a page, or created it from scratch.
Minor edit
The editor fixed some SPAG, formatted the page better or moved content around to be better organized.
Tagging
The editor changed the tags or categories on the page in accordance with accepted policy.
Annoying edit
The editor tried to add some content to a page, but the content was totally wrong or irrelevant.
Vandalism
The editor (usually a spambot or retard) inserted gibberish or advertising or removed legitimate content.
Revert
The editor changed a page back to a previous version. A self-revert occurs when the editor only removed their own changes.

Edit count

If you go to Special:Preferences, you'll see an edit count. Unsurprisingly, this is the total number of edits you've made. There is a great controversy over whether having a high edit count actually means you're a good wiki editor.
