The Mario Kart GP is a racing tournament hosted, participated in, and driven through the Mushroom Kingdom. The tracks and rules changed themselves frequently. These rules are identified by what tracks are available, who can race, and what models of karts can be driven. The rules rotate often, and therefore frustrates the drivers greatly, particularly, Koopa Troopa, King Boo, Petey Piranah and Toadette, since their drivability in these rulesets seems to be totally random.

Used Rule sets

Double Dash Rules

This ruleset is frequently used, as is a very popular set among the denizens of the Mushroom Kingdom. The karts allowed must have two or more seats, so the racers can be put into pairs. The courses featured are often grouped into either the GCN GP or the DD GP. This is the only rule set in which Petey Piranah is allowed to race in.

Wii Rules

The Wii rules are the second most popular set of rules, and have a wide variety of courses to choose from. Notably, Rosalina and Funky Kong can race this time. The karts allowed are either the new 2009 model karts or the newly released Bikes.
