AVI? Not an MKV? How pathetic...

AVI is a popular but crude video container format. Although MPEG is the JPEG of video, AVI files are often quite similar when using some of the ancient codecs like MS Video 1 and DivX: you either get a really terrible quality, or an enormous filesize. However, with newer codecs, this isn't a problem...

AVI has the advantages of being widely compatible and easy to share. Many programs, such as CamStudio, a popular screen capturing program, dump in AVI format.

Oddly enough, Phi recorded his final words in a badly encoded AVI CD, thus blurring his image for the first 20 seconds or so.
